Following are the most familiar and popular forms of poker games with a brief explanation of each of them:

Texas Hold’em

This is mostly known and popular form of all card games played around the world and also in online. In most cases people think poker means just Texas Hold’em. The number of players can range from two to ten in a Texas hold’em table. This is popular mainly because of its simple game rules and fast paced game play. In every round in Texas Hold’em there are four betting rounds where every player gets two cards faced down and a total of five community cards are dealt for all the players on the poker table to use. The player having greatest five-card hand at showdown wins the pot.

Omaha Poker

The number of players in Omaha poker is the same as Texas Hold’em from two to ten with the same rule of four betting rounds. In this form of poker every player need to combine two of the hole cards and three of community cards to form the best five-card hand. There are different variants of Omaha like Omaha 8, Omaha Hi-lo etc each having different rules.  In Omaha 8 the participants can also aim to make a low five cards hand too.

Seven Card Stud

This is another form of poker which is played having two to eight participants on the table. It has five betting rounds with an early ante before any betting. Every participant gets three poker cards face down and four community cards are kept to see for all the players.  The hand with the best five cards wins the round in seven card stud.
There are so many other forms but these are most popular forms of poker games.
